Your Swing Fault Is Actually Your Cure
Yet another way to understand your golf swing is to do an interesting exercise, and the exercise is this....
Whatever you think is the swing fault, the part you don't like about your swing is actually the cure, whatever you think is the bad movement is actually there for a ball flight reason.
Every swing has matching movements and your mind and body is doing everything to help you hit the ball straight.
So it's not that your swing sucks because you have caused the matching movement, no you need to ask yourself what's the message. It is easier to understand your swing by looking at how you match it up and make the assumption this movement is the cure.
Here is what I mean, anyone who I have ever worked with a shut clubface always cleared their hips more on the downswing to open the clubface.
The spinning hips instead of being the fault was actually the cure, but some players would come for a lesson and ask me to fix their spinning hips.
O.K who wants to over spin their hips, but get the massage first, the clubface is shut and start your swing fix from this point, then let go of the spinning hips.
Other people with really steep downswings lift up before impact to save their club from digging 3 feet into the ground, and they ask me to help them with their posture.
The lifting up is actually the cure, work on your downswing path first (perhaps some ball above the feet practice) and watch how you automatically stay in your posture.
So next time you analyze your swing look at the part you don't like, but think it through, it is trying to tell you something.
Then fix your swing from the faults origin, this will satisfy both your long and short term goals as you go on to build the proper golf swing.
( Below is an example of a shut clubface with a body going under to square the club face )
