Loft And The Lob
During your round you will sometimes be faced with an obstacle , such as a lake or tree to get to the putting green.
A lob shot is a high-trajectory shot that lands on the putting green with little or no roll.
Ok the way I suggest you get loft with your LW- or SW or whatever club you play lob shots with is to make the changes in the set-up so that there is no need to manipulate the club during the swing.
So beginning with the left hand, grip the club stronger so that you can see up to 4 knuckles.
Next place your right hand on the club normally.
In the backswing keeping the hands in this same set-up angle lift your arms and notice how the face automatically opens up and this is what you see in all good short game players on tour at the top of the backswing the right wrist will look straight whilst the left wrist looks cupped.
On the downswing the correct movement will keep the face of the club outside the hands with the clubface very open all the way through impact.
Throughout this entire swing it is very important to keep our posture until the follow through where the body will straighten.
To be able to produce this shot consistently is going to take a lot of practice. Touch and Feel are a major part, something we all strive for. A good lie is also a prerequisite.
You need to understand what your capabilities are and what sort of a result you are looking for, in some positions ending up at a 3 putt distance from the flag is maybe all you can achieve.
Don't try and steal too much green, even the top players choose the right percentage shots.
